Memorial Day Weekend in Riverside

When we found out that the entire McKell clan would be in Riverside for Memorial Day weekend we packed up the car and headed down so we could hang out with everyone.  As hard as the drive there and back were (aka Ford crying much of the way with several stops for nursing), the trip was 100% worth it.  We had SO much fun being with everyone.

The first day we drove up to Lake Arrowhead to see Grandpa the Great at Karen and Kenny's house.  Grandpa the Great is Aaron's great grandpa on his dad's side and he is turning 103 years old this fall.  The last time I got to see Grandpa the Great was over Christmas break in 2010, which was much too long ago.

Grandpa the Great is known for his great sense of humor and amazing story telling skills.  It was fun to see that at 103 he is just as witty as ever.  He knew each of our names and when we introduced him to Ford, he said, "Oh this must be Ford Eldon!" I was so amazed he knew our Ford, one of his newest great great grandchildren.

I went overboard on pictures but we all wanted to take pictures with him so here they all are :)

We spent the afternoon at the house with Karen and Kenny (Karen is Grammy McKell's sister).  We all couldn't help but snap some pictures around the house.  They built their home up in the mountains and it is beautiful. So many windows!

Afterwards, we went out to a delicious lunch in Lake Arrowhead and then walked along the water.  It is such a beautifully quaint area.  I'd love to go again.

The rest of the weekend included hanging out in the Mustang (Ford's first time in a Ford!), playing paddle ball, racing cars, going to church, playing card games every night, and attending a Memorial Day motorcycle parade.

The weekend ended much to soon and we headed back to Fresno on Monday.  I can't wait till August when we are all together again!
